Sheriff’s Office, Ashland P.D. & Lineville P.D. Join forces/make arrests

On January 1, 2016, a burglary was reported at 5464 Clairmont Springs Road in Ashland where antiques valuables in the excess value of $3500.00 were stolen. Over the past year, Sheriff’s Investigators have made arrests and retrieved some of the stolen items, but many were not discovered until recently. Sheriff’s Investigators received information that some of the remaining items from the burglary were at a residence in Oxford, Alabama. Sheriff’s Investigators traveled to 3501 Rocky Ridge Road in Oxford, where they located several items from the January Burglary. Those items were identified by the owner and returned to them. The case remains under investigation with possible additional arrests.

On December 22nd, 2016, Clay County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of possible identity theft. Lineville Police had received a similar complaint concerning the same activity. Lineville Police Investigator’s joined forces with Sheriff’s Investigators in an attempt to located and apprehend the suspect. Gathering information concerning the activity on the victims account, Investigators were quick to target a suspect. Sheriff’s Office Deputies, assisted by Lineville Police proceeded to the Delta area where the suspect was located with a number of items they had received as a part of the crime. Investigators arrested Gloria Elizabeth Hunt, age 36 of Ashland for Identity Theft. A number of items were seized from the suspect valued in the hundreds of dollars. Hunt remains in the Clay County Detention Center on a $5000.00 bond.

On December 20, 2016, Lineville Police Investigators initiated an investigation concerning possible thefts from local business. Additionally, Ashland Police Investigators were looking into thefts from businesses in the Ashland area. On December 21, 2016, Lineville and Ashland Police Investigators identified a suspect. Lineville Police, Ashland Police and Clay County Sheriff’s Investigators joined in an effort to serve a search warrant at 1611 East Mill Road, Lineville. Investigators found several items connected with the above mentioned thefts and additionally found drugs in the residence. Arrested was Brandi Lynn Delaney, age 41 of Lineville and Nathan Alexander Godwin, age 23 of Lineville. Both were charged on related drug violations, and Delaney was charged in connection with the above mentioned thefts. Godwin was booked into the Clay County Detention Center and released on bonds totaling $7000.00. Delaney remains in the Clay County Detention Center.
