The Lineville Council met Monday, December 19, 2016. Council Member David Proctor served as Mayor Pro Tem in the absence of Mayor Adamson. District 1 Council member Carolyn Smith was also absent.
Maintenance Supervisor Rusty Taylor reported the water department had received materials for the water line project on Fox Creek Rd. Approximately 1700 feet of line and 3 fire hydrants will be installed in the near future and completed as weather permits.
Taylor reported that the two water shed lakes were still down about seven feet and the levels were coming up about an inch every day.
Council members approved the purchase of a new truck for maintenance dept. This will replace the 1989 Blazer in this fleet. The vehicle purchase was budgeted in the 2016-17 fiscal year.
Council members promoted Librarian Julie Silverson to full time status after her six month probationary period had expired. This was a unanimous vote.
Proctor reported he thought the Christmas parade went very well, but felt there was always room for improvement. Proctor felt there needed to be someone in charge of the parade in the future, a go-to person for any information requested by the public because there was no one right now and it created confusion.
City Administrator Donna Mathews said she felt there needed to be a standard registration form in place for float entry, participation, etc.
The City Hall will be closed Friday, Dec. 23 and Monday, Dec. 26th for the Christmas Holidays.
